Comps in Fall 2011Pass.jpg

Comprehensive Exams

Notes from a friend who took the comps in fall 2010:

She said to be prepared with up to 12 sources or theorists to draw up for each question. She said she also had the name of the publication, the year and the main idea memorized. She included the standards in all three of her answers. She said each question posed a problem or challenge and asked how to address it.

Her study group started meeting in the summer every other Sunday. Then they met every weekend one month before. They had practice questions to use. They set the time for hour and 15 minutes and all started typing their responses before sharing.

We could also paste sample questions on our wiki and post responses/conversations similar to Dr. Marshall’s classes. My friend and Dr. Marshall both told me that our papers for his classes are the best way to prepare for the comps. My friend recommended that we post or share our papers with one another.
